TAG: Hocus Pocus Book Tag

I’m loving this Halloween themed book tag from Never Not Reading. Thanks so much for tagging me on this one, I’ve enjoyed completing this!

There are no rules. It’s YOUR blog. But if would be nice if you linked back to Never Not Reading, and maybe the person who tagged you too. Share the love folks.

The Sanderson Sisters

A great trilogy

giphy (13)

Jen Williams’ Copper Cat Trilogy, so good!

Winifred Sanderson

A book with a truly evil female villain

giphy (14)

Lanta, the High Priestess to the Red Gods in Godblind. Damn that woman scared me senseless!

Sarah Sanderson

A book that uncannily attracts children.

I don’t have children and other than my Niece I don’t really know any children so I can only go with what I read as a child so I will jump in and say The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, I first read it when I was 12 and had read it three times before I was 16.

Mary Sanderson

A book that is just plain silly.

giphy (3)

Elements of Mischief by C.M. Stunich and Tate James, I literally just read this, despite it being a great paranormal romance it also had so many plumber jokes and puns in that it was almost embarrassing. It could have made it really cringe-worthy but I actually ended up laughing my way through them, it was obviously done in a very silly, tongue-in-cheek way and meant to lighten the mood.

A book that is trying really hard to be cool, but doesn’t always succeed.

giphy (6)

Last Call at the Nightshade Lounge by Paul Krueger has such a cool synopsis but it just doesn’t follow through in the execution.

A book that isn’t afraid to tell it like it is.

giphy (2)

Red Sister by Mark Lawrence, brutal, bloody and honest from beginning to end.

A book series that just won’t die.

Anita Blake by Laurell K. Hamilton, I’m so bloody far behind with this series and for every book I read she’s written like ten! I will literally never catch up with this series it’s a physical impossibility.

A book with a character that’s dumb as a rock.

giphy (5)

Don’t think anyone will be surprised that I pick Twilight for this one, seriously they are all dumb as fuck in that book!

The Black Flame Candle

A book or series you wish you could resurrect.

giphy (7)

Oh, so many… but I would have Kierney Scott write more of her Firing Line series cos I have serious love for those characters.

Headless Billy Butcherson

A book that’s not so bad as people make it out to be.

giphy (4)

I’ve heard a lot of negativity about the Divergent trilogy, especially the way it ends, but I really enjoyed them, especially the ending so I guess that fits here.

Winifred Sanderson’s Spell Book

A book with a mind of its own.

giphy (8)

I think most fantasy books fall into this category, don’t they? I’ve definitely lost track of things with The Shannara novels by Terry Brooks and am planning to go back to the beginning so maybe those.

Garry Marshall

A book with a cameo.

giphy (1)

As I’m not a Dr Who fan it’s bizarre I remember this but Daleks pop up in Gaiman/Pratchett’s Good Omen’s

As always, no pressure, apologies if I’ve duplicate nominated you, and if you want to take part and I’ve not nominated you have at it.

I'm BrizzleLass, I have Bipolar and have been dealing with mental illness in one form or another since childhood, I was first diagnosed with depression at nine. It's not easy speaking out about my experiences, some of them are extremely painful, but if I can help even one person then I have succeeded in sharing my story. This is where I talk about my mental health among other things that interest me. I enjoy walking, PlayStation, reading, heavy metal, and spending time with my Niece.

      1. I actually was tagged for it, but that’s okay! It’s impossible to keep track, I know. I need to do it and hope I can find titles for all the answers. 🖤

  1. Oooh! I’ll have to make sure I do this one before Halloween. I am in 100% agreement on the Anita Blake novels. Holy shit for real that they’re still going considering I heard they get really bad. I know of two others I’d put in this category but you’ll just have to wait and see 😉 Gonna have to think up for some of the others like a book with a mind of it’s own or the tell it like it is one.

    1. I know right?! I haven’t hit the point with Anita Blake where I’m sick of them yet but I am sure it will happen. I have one on my shelf the publisher sent me last year and it’s like number 24 or something. That’s ridiculous!

      1. 24??? Wow! I didn’t think there was that many! That is pretty ridiculous. Is Anita still in it?? haha Cause I know sometimes authors will have like a new season in the same world.

  2. Ah, some good choices by you there… I was trying to think of my own answer as I read along and I think it would take me forever to answer some of those 😀 hahaha…
Your hate for Twilight burns so bright 😀 I was just watching the last two films a few nights ago and I did find myself cringing a lot but the action scenes are ace…
