Professor Next Door - Summer Cooper

#Review: Professor Next Door by Summer Cooper @summer_author

I f@ck my students… I just can’t seem to keep it in my pants when these young sexy women throw themselves at me!

But now, I must stop behaving like such a d**k, not that my dead wife would care…

If I get caught sleeping with my students, I’ll lose my job.

And if I don’t get my s**t together, they’ll come for the only good thing in my life… my daughter.

But I have a plan to fix all that. I have a plan for the girl next door…

I wasn’t entirely sure I was going to like this book from the blurb but the writing won me over very quickly. Galen isn’t quite the ass the blurb makes him out to be, he’s a deeply loving father and his looks and a tragedy in his past have meant it’s been easier for him to be a bit of a player where women are concerned but that’s not the kind of person he is in his heart.

Galen’s friends are a hoot, I absolutely loved them being around, their frank honesty and how they were willing to do whatever it took to support their friend. I have male friends who are like that with each other and it’s so nice to see it coming out in a book.

Tara is a wonderful character, a mature student who moves in next door to Galen, she’s not the drop dead gorgeous woman you normally see in books, she’s pretty, but geeky, wears glasses but has a heart of gold and when Galen asks her to babysit she says yes even though she doesn’t have a clue about children, quickly falling in love with his daughter.

The proposal Galen puts to Tara I didn’t see coming and it sets them up for an unusual story, it was a heartwarming, heartbreaking and passionate story. Tara is so innocent in many ways yet incredibly strong and Galen despite his experience has much to learn about letting people into his life, particularly a woman.

These two people have to learn to love, trust and be a family if they stand any chance of surviving what is being thrown at them. After my hesitance, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will be checking out more books by this author.

Huge thanks to Summer Cooper for providing me with an eARC so that I could read and review this novel honestly.

I'm BrizzleLass, I have Bipolar and have been dealing with mental illness in one form or another since childhood, I was first diagnosed with depression at nine. It's not easy speaking out about my experiences, some of them are extremely painful, but if I can help even one person then I have succeeded in sharing my story. This is where I talk about my mental health among other things that interest me. I enjoy walking, PlayStation, reading, heavy metal, and spending time with my Niece.
