I’ve been playing catch up on reviews this week after my blogiversary celebrations last week. A whole week with no reviews left me really backlogged!
My Facebook Group is slowly growing. If you are one of my readers who loves romance please come and join us!

TBR Topple
This month’s TBR Topple results are in and with a massive 64% of the vote the winner is Magesign by Alan Baxter, I’m super excited about this one, I really enjoyed the first book in this series when I read it many many moons ago and I’ve been caught up with other books and haven’t kept up with this series as I should have. I’ve popped Magesign onto my reading list, it’s a bit choc-full at the moment but I should get to it in the next few weeks so look out for a review early next month.
Fun fact for you Alan and I used to write for an online metal magazine along with Steffanie Holmes whose book I have reviewed this week (see reviews below)…it’s a small world eh?!
The poll will be back on May 1st with new books for you to choose from.
I had the cover of a Bon Jovi classic for Music Monday. Kate Coe stopped by for Unsung Heroes. On The Bookshelf this week I welcomed author Jane O’Reilly. I took part in the release blitz for Devros by Echo Hart.
It’s April which means a new set of books to consider for my TBR Topple read. This year each book I offer qualifies for my Mount TBR challenge. So far this year I am failing miserably at this challenge so hopefully, I will do a little better at getting a few more books read from the pile moving forward! As always the poll is at the end of the post for you to cast your vote.
Waiting for Prince Harry by Aven Ellis [Romance] Twenty-four-year-old Kylie Reed has always been a rule follower. Organized and cautious to a fault, her dreams for life are often filed away for future use—when she has a house when she meets her future husband when she has been at her visual display job at a chic Dallas boutique longer. Kylie always has a reason for living her life in the future, not in the present, and fears not living her life to the fullest and reaching her dream of becoming a fashion designer.
The only exception to rules, of course, would be running away with Prince Harry. But living in Dallas and not knowing Prince Harry make this a non-option.
Or does it?
Because when Kylie accidentally falls into the lap of a gorgeous ginger guy—yes, even more, gorgeous than the real Prince Harry—all bets are off. Kylie’s life takes some unexpected twists and turns thanks to this encounter. Could this stranger be the one to show Kylie how to live in the present?
Losing Me Finding You by C.M. Stunich [Romance] Twenty-one year old Amy Cross’s idea of a hot Saturday night is curling up with her favorite book boyfriend and secretly sneaking a bottle of her mother’s wine. That is, until she meets Austin Sparks, the biker boy with a past that burns like fire and a gaze she can’t look away from. Without knowing what she’s doing or why she’s doing it, Amy ends up on the road with Austin traveling from one city to another while learning things she’s only ever read about in romance novels.
At first it seems like Austin is Amy’s fantasy come true, but as their journey progresses, she starts to sense that Austin is running away from something. Amy knows that she’ll do whatever it takes to help him find himself. What she doesn’t expect is that she’ll lose herself in the process and how good it will feel to be free.
A Stroke of Midnight by Laurell K Hamilton [Paranormal Romance/Reverse Harem] I am Meredith Gentry, P.I., solving cases in Los Angeles, far from the peril and deception of my real home–because I am also Princess Meredith, heir to the darkest throne faerie has to offer. The Unseelie Court infuses me with its power. But at what price does such magic come? How much of my human side will I have to give up, and how much of the sinister side of faerie will I have to embrace? To sit on a throne that has ruled through bloodshed and violence for centuries, I might have to become that which I dread the most.
Enemies watch my every move. My cousin Cel strives to have me killed even now from his prison cell. But not all the assassination attempts are his. Some Unseelie nobles have waited centuries for my aunt Andais, Queen of Air and Darkness, to become weak enough that she might be toppled from her throne. Enemies unforeseen move against us–enemies who would murder the least among us.
The threat will drive us to allow human police into faerie for the first time in our history. I need my allies now more than ever, especially since fate will lead me into the arm of Mistral, Master of Storms, the queen’s new captain of her guard. Our passion will reawaken powers long forgotten among the warriors of the sidhe. Pain and pleasure await me–and danger, as well, for some at that court seek only death.
I will find new joys with the butterfly-winged demi-fey. My guards and I will show all of faerie that violence and sex are as popular among the sidhe as they are among the lesser fey of our court. The Darkness will weep, and Frost will comfort him. The gentlest of my guards will find new strength and break my heart. Passions undreamed of await us–and my enemies gather, for the future of both courts of faerie begins to unravel.
Embrace the Night by Karen Chance [Paranormal Romance] Recently named the world’s chief clairvoyant, Cassandra Palmer still has a thorn in her side. As long as Cassie and a certain master vampire – the sizzling-hot Mircea – are magically bound to each other, her life will never be her own …
The spell that binds them can only be broken with an incantation found in the Codex Merlini, an ancient grimoire. The Codex’s location has been lost in the present day, so Cassie will have to seek it out in the only place it can still be found – the past.
But Cassie soon realizes the Codex has been lost for a reason. The book is rumored to contain dangerous spells, and retrieving it may help Cassie to deal with Mircea, but it could also endanger the world…
Magesign by Alan Baxter [Fantasy] Three years have passed since Isiah’s run-in with Samuel Harrigan and the Devil. He has some time on his hands- a perfect opportunity to track down the Sorcerer, Harrigan’s mentor. It should have been a simple enough task, but the Sorcerer has more followers than Isiah ever imagined, and a plan bigger than anyone could have dreamed. With the help of some powerful new friends, Isiah must track down the Sorcerer and his cult of blood before they change the world forever. In this long-awaited sequel to the highly acclaimed RealmShift, Baxter once again maintains a breathless pace and blistering intensity, with gods, demons, and humans in the grip of magical conflict. This is dark urban fantasy at its best.
So, this week I decided to finally join the ranks of bloggers take a break from social media and blog reading once a week to focus on my own reading and general life needs! I’ve chosen a Wednesday as this is my busiest day of the week anyway and having tried it out this week I had a far less stressful day.
Not much to say this week, so onto the bookish update…
Book of the Month
It’s that time again to name my book of the month, it will hardly be a surprise that for March I’m naming Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman my book of the month. This book met all of my expectations and beyond. It is also a beautiful book just to look at and will not be leaving my bookshelf any time soon!
If you want to read my full review, you can find it here.
