Blogiversary Guest Post: Danielle from Books Vertigo and Tea @BooksVertigoTea

On Thursday I celebrate three years as a book blogger. It has been a wonderful three years and I love this community and I wanted to celebrate the community this week by asking five of my fellow bloggers to write guest posts to help me celebrate. I purposely asked these bloggers to write posts that reflected them and their blogs so that each post was unique and stood out on it’s own merit, and I think they have each done a fabulous job.

At the end of the post you will find a giveaway, this is my thank you to everybody who has been by my side through the past three years, whether you were there from the beginning or are a newer reader I appreciate your support.

I asked Danielle to kick this week off because I knew she would bring us something perfectly tasty and she didn’t disappoint. Danielle have formed a friendship which has come off the page, both having a possibly unhealthy relationship with tea, we send tea across the atlantic to each other and talk regularly. She is a good friend as well as a fabulous blogger who I highly recommend to everyone.

Pairing Teas & Genres

I was over the moon when Claire asked me to help kick off her blogiversary by sharing a guest post! She is one of my favorite bloggers, biggest supporters and well.. quite honestly embodies all that I look for in a friend and fellow human. But what to post? Books and tea have brought Claire and I together, so it felt most appropriate to choose exactly that. I have put together a small post of teas and the genres I pair them with. Thank you Claire for the continued inspiration, wonderful cups of tea, and incredible friendship.

The Bloggers Bookshelf – Danielle from Books, Vertigo & Tea @BooksVertigoTea

Hi Guys, welcome back to The Bookshelf. Each week I feature an author or book blogger and talk about their bookshelf with them. It’s a light-hearted, book focused, Q&A.

This week I have the very wonderful Danielle from Books, Vertigo & Tea. Her reviews are always so thought out. And she writes some wonderful opinion pieces. She loves to receive tea themed care packages and is a fantastic person to have as a friend. I really hope you enjoy reading about her Bookshelf as much as I’ve enjoyed putting it together.

What was the first book you remember having on your bookshelf?
This is a difficult one, but I believe it was an illustrated edition of Hans Christian Andersen’s Fairy Tales. It was a lovely hardcover collection that with gold edged pages. I would give anything to still own the collection. I spent many nights flipping through those stories.

What was the most recent book you added to the bookshelf?
Well I am admitting that I am way behind by sharing this piece of information, but it is the original screenplay for Fantastic Beasts and where to find them by the one and only JK Rowling.

Which book have you most recently read from your bookshelf?
Gwenhwyfar: The White Enchantress by Mercedes Lackey. I actually had to finish this one in audio due to my eye sight refusing to cooperate. I am embarrassed to say that it was my first title by Lackey, but will not be my last 😉

Which 5 books from last year would you not let go of from your bookshelf?
Oof! You like to ask the hard questions. My choices are based on titles read in 2016 but not necessarily published then: The Black Company by Glen Cook, Vassa in the Night by Sarah Porter, Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor, The Wolf Road by Beth Lewis, and The Monster in the Road is Me by JP Romney.

Which books are you most looking forward to adding to your bookshelf?
Grey Sister (Book of the Ancestor #2) by Mark Lawrence or The Girl in the Tower(The Bear and the Nightingale #2) by Katherine Arden.

Which genre is most predominant on your bookshelf?
Fantasy hands down! Be it YA or Adult, my shelves are lined with fantasy titles for all ages. I cannot get enough of the rich world building, dragons and magic systems.

Which genre do you wish you had more of on your bookshelf?
Again, fantasy 😉 You can never have enough of a good thing, right?

If your bookshelf could talk what would it say?
Haha, that I need to go out more! Seriously between the mix of fantasy and horror titles it is apparent that I live in my head and between the pages. And the unrelenting weight that my shelves must feel at this point just goes to prove that I live in fictional words.

What colour do you see more of when you look at your bookshelf?
This varies a bit now as I try to make a concerted effort to branch out. But my shelves are darker. A lot of blacks and greys. None of the pretty rainbow colors you see on instagram. Fantasy titles tend to favor darker shades.

Can you share a picture of your bookshelf / favourite bookshelf?

About Danielle

I am a nonadulting mother of 2 who has spent many years working in the healthcare field. I have been an avid reader for as long as I can remember and have enjoyed sharing reviews and thoughts on retail sites and Goodreads over the last few years. After this ridiculous brain lesion developed a few years ago,I found myself spending evem more time in books and less time outside, so my minion, I mean nonhubs pushed me to start a blog, claiming it would be a great outlet and help me connect more with others (I was beginning to feel isolated). And this is one of the very rares times I will publicly admit he was right. Now I spend the time I am able to online raving about all things book related, tea and occasionally my relentless vertigo and lousy symptoms. I relish in the opportunity to meet others who share similar interest and often fangirl over multiple things with a somewhat childish enthusiasm because the last two years has taught me that life is too short to spend it growing up.
