Working as a receptionist in a London vets, Sam is living far from her idea of a simple life. She’s always broke, rents a tiny flat and is constantly arguing with her boyfriend. But the worst part is that her career is going nowhere. She wants to be a vet, but the most contact time with the animals she has is a quick hello when she books in their next appointment.

Something’s got to give, so when her parents suggest visiting her Nana Peggy in a small quiet picturesque village, she agrees, thinking a bit of R&R could do her good.

#Review: Saved By The Firefighter by Rachel Brimble @RachelBrimble @MillsandBoon

How can she forgive him for what he didn’t do?

Photographer Izzy Cooper feels as frozen as her pictures. Trent Palmer might be the hottest firefighter in Templeton Cove, but she can never face him again. Not after he failed to save her brother. But when they’re forced together by a calendar shoot, the sparks between them are undeniable.

Izzy knows it’s not fair to blame Trent for the tragedy, but opening herself up to loss again isn’t something she’s prepared to do, no matter how determined Trent is to show her that pain is part of life and that love—their love—can make any suffering bearable.

I won a signed copy of this novel in a giveaway just before Christmas, it was the perfect novel to pick up and start the New Year with and I’m so glad I did. Rachel Brimble has created a complex story which follows none of the expected romance structures and leaves you on the edge of your seat throughout.

Izzy Cooper has been stuck in a rut of despair and grief since her brother was killed in a devastating fire. His best friend, firefighter, Trent was unable to save him and Izzy blames Trent which has put a spanner in the works of their budding romance.

Trent isn’t one to give up easily though, he knows Izzy is ‘the one’ and he is determined to get her through her grief and win her over regardless of how many times she pushes him away.

This is a novel which is more about grief and how hard it is to overcome that grief than about romance. It’s about rebuilding relationships, trust, and finding love within that. This is an emotionally charged novel that leaves you pleading with Izzy to find her way through her broken heart.

There were times when I felt completely frustrated with her for the way she acted, but I think this was natural for this type of situation to feel frustated when you can’t help someone who so desperately needs it. There was a definite feeling that we would never get a positive outcome from this story and I guess it’s for you to find out if that ever happens when you read it.

A huge thanks to Rachel Brimble for sending me the signed copy of this book which I won in a giveaway. This was my honest opinion.
