Review

I’m well and truly bingeing this series and it’s fantastic! Blind Fate is the second book in the Veredian Chronicles series. Valena, like Amalia, is a psi but has had some of her power taken by being blinded. I love that we have a lead character with a disability it was just such a positive thing to read.

Valena has been responsible for looking after the young women who are used in the illegal blood houses to heal the Tainted Xelixian males. She hasn’t so much as dreamed of a life away from captivity until she meets Zhul. A Prime he has no need for the services at the blood houses, in fact, he is appalled by what goes on there.

Zhul and Valena are the perfect match, but Valena’s master has his own plans for this couple and they have quite the fight ahead of them if they have any hope of getting a happily ever after. In Escaping Fate we see Zhul as one of the more villainous characters yet seeing the full story through Zhul and Valena’s POV’s in this book we see why he acted the way he did and understand the full situation.

We further follow the story of Amalia, Lhor and Khel which works really well with Valena and Zhul’s story. A few of the chapters are from Lhor’s POV and are really enjoyable. Seeing the world coming together and progressing as we learn more about newer characters really adds a lot to the reading experience for me.

Blind Fate can be read as a standalone, but I think for the best reading experience you would want to read the books in order.

Review

Losing Amalia is a very quick read about 20 pages covering the fastening which is covered in Escaping Fate. This time though we see it from Lhor’s point of view and so get a new set of emotions and help to understand his emotional state at this time much more.

It’s really best to have read Escaping Fate first so that you fully understand the story surrounding this one. In Escaping Fate we are given this scene from Amalia and Khel’s points of view so this story rounds the whole scene off by giving us Lhor’s point of view.

I was really moved reading this, I felt pulled to Lhor through most of Escaping Fate and then reading this and seeing what he was going through during this early part of the story I felt even more connected to him. I definitely recommend reading.

This MFM novel is a constant toe-curling, action-packed thriller, and the first book in the Veredian Chronicles series. It is standalone with no cliffhanger.

Review

Amalia has known nothing of life except what she has seen and experienced on the slaver’s ship she has been brought up on. After a failed escape attempt as a teenager she has waited patiently for a chance to run and at twenty-two her chance has come.

After escaping she becomes bonded with cousins Lhor and Khel who help her hunt down her captors and rescue the women he enslaved.

I loved how the story developed, it moved at a steady pace with a good mix of emotion, action and romance. I was deeply moved by the way the taint was a ticking time bomb for Lhor and Khel and the question of if Amalia could save them was always hanging over them all.

I found the romance side of this story captivating and impatiently wanted to move it along while simultaneously enjoying the slower pace of the story.

The world building was fascinating and I’m looking forward to gaining a better understanding of this world as the series progresses.

This is one of those books that makes me realise I don’t read anywhere near enough sci-fi romance. I’m hooked and am super pleased I have more books in this series to dive into straight away.

#Review: Goddess of the Sea by P.C. Cast @pccastauthor

Review

This is another of those books I have had on my shelf for years, I bought it while I was deep in the House of Night series which I got a little bored of added to the fact I had never really bonded with mermaid stories I think this just got pushed further and further back on my list. I’m so glad I finally decided to read it though. It was such a refreshing read, with original ideas and a fresh approach to the mythology it uses.

CC or Christine is a woman who has never quite found her place, a sergeant in the US Air Force she is good at her job, she’s also afraid of flying (great twist there). After everybody in her life forgets her twenty-fifth birthday she drowns her sorrows in champagne and performs a goddess summoning ritual she finds in one of her old books.

When her plane crashes on her way to her next posting she finds her self magically transported to a medieval world, and inside the body of a beautiful mermaid, Undine, the daughter of the goddess she summoned. And so her adventure really begins with the match her father has chosen for her pursuing her relentlessly, to escape from him she heads for dry land and is rescued by a bona fide Knight in Shining Armour, but CC has already found love with Dylan a merman who has nothing more to offer her than his heart, but how they find a future together neither of them know.

I loved the complexity of this story, it appears on the surface like a simple love triangle but it is far more than that. P.C. Cast woven together a novel that perfectly sits between the historical and mythological. I spent the last thirty minutes I was reading sobbing as the story unravelled and didn’t end at all how I had expected.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable novel and the first mermaid based story I’ve enjoyed.

It’s always nice to get unexpected book post when that book post is a second chance romance featuring a well built hot boxer named after a Greek God then I’m all in baby! Zeus Kincaid dreamed of being the world’s best boxer, it’s all he’s ever wanted. Except for ballet dancer Cameron Reed. From the moment they met as teenagers they were destined for each other and then he broke both of their hearts by walking away thinking it was the best thing for their careers.

It has taken Zeus five years to knock on her door and he has so much more to make up for than he even knows when he knocks that door. Cam is one of those women you can’t help but love. A single mother, she works two jobs and puts her daughter first in everything she does. So having Zeus back in her life is difficult and not something she wants to deal with.

She doesn’t want her emotions re-ignited, she doesn’t want to be reminded of the love she still holds for him, she doesn’t want him upsetting her simple life. But Zeus is a man on a mission and he isn’t taking these things into consideration in his single-minded pursuit of the woman he loves.

Zeus was all alpha male, but soft-hearted to the core. He fought this battle like a true boxer, strategically and carefully. Taking hits when he needed to and pushing through each round like a pro. He came in knowing what he wanted and didn’t let any of the surprises along the way put him off.

I loved this book, it was paced really well with characters you couldn’t help but love thoroughly.

Review

I was left at the end of The Needed with a need (sorry couldn’t help myself) to read more. I was totally sold on this series and just wanted more. The Wanted didn’t disappoint and Camila continued to be one kick-ass genie heroine in this instalment.

Trying to come to terms with having five mates and trying to bond with them and become comfortable with who she is and what having mates instead of her usual bonded. She embarks on a journey with her fae men to try and fix the problem with the fae Queen that Bekket brought to their doorstep in the last book.

Of course, more problems pop up with this mission, and we end with a devastating twist which has left me open mouthed and desperate for more.

Review

So this is my second book by both authors, and I’m loving both of these ladies work so stinking much. The intense chemistry between all the characters is off the charts, and I love the fact that the female lead is dominant and not a damsel in distress, she’s strong, empowered and not at all ashamed of her body.

The male characters are amazing and intense more some than others. Her 3 appointed knights are all unique, and I cannot wait to read the next book I’m highly impatiently waiting, this is another 5* read for me, the writing and storyline and the plot, everything is brilliant these two talented authors are fantastic I’m so glad to have found them.
